Southwest Sports Wellness Foundation
The Southwest Sports Wellness Foundation’s mission is to support young athletes and medical professionals in our community by providing physical, mental and emotional developmental training programs. The Foundation is committed to demonstrating the value of hard work and perseverance for young athletes through individualized goal setting and to creating self-esteem through the achievement of those goals.
The Southwest Sports Wellness Foundation promotes the following goals:
1. To provide sports medicine care to student athletes through:
a. Pre-participation screening exams.
b. Athletic trainers for high school sports programs.
c. Injury clinics for early diagnosis and treatment.
d. Access to physical therapy care for rehabilitation.
e. Access to highly trained physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers.
2. To provide sports specific skill, speed and agility training for young people.
3. To provide educational opportunities for physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and students including:
a. Internships for students who are interested in learning about the practice of sports medicine.
b. Fellowships for health care professionals interested in specialty training in sports medicine.
c. Scholarships for studies leading to careers in sports medicine for students and health care professionals who demonstrate interest in the field, show promise in being able to contribute to the community and have a financial need.
d. Hands-on experience and supplemental income opportunities for individuals interested in health care professions.
