Favorite volunteer experience: Spending time with the kiddo’s in Tijuana while volunteering for Jornada. It’s such a rewarding experience and I gain so much every single time I visit.

Hobbies: Cooking, swimming, walking/hiking with my dog, spending time with my husband and family, going to coffee shops and farmers markets! 🙂

Favorite sport: I don’t follow sports much, but I’ll occasionally watch soccer and baseball with my friends and family

Favorite volunteer experience: Aztec Dance Marathon – an overnight fundraiser for Rady Children’s Hospital at SDSU. It is incredible to see students from all over campus come together and raise funds and awareness for such a fun and meaningful cause! I’ve also loved being a coach for Girls on the Run, a nonprofit that instills confidence and a love for running in girls.

Hobbies: I love hiking, exploring new places, running, eating brownies, drinking coffee, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family doing all of the above!

Favorite sport: Basketball! #goAztecs #goLakers

Favorite food: It’s a tie between fudge, brownies, and ice cream… no I don’t have a sweet tooth…

Favorite volunteer experience: I was really inspired by last year’s Life Rolls On and I can’t wait to go again and experience it out in the water instead of as a land volunteer.

Hobbies: Yoga, working out, dancing, hiking, walking, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, brunch, going to the beach

Favorite sport: Dancing!

Favorite food: Avocado or sushi!

Outreach Liaison: David Tang

Favorite volunteer experience: Had the opportunity to volunteer over the weekend at Gabriel House in Ensenada, Mexico. It is a center for children with disabilities who have either been abandoned, orphaned, or families unable to take care of them. It was an eye opening experience to be able to help these children who otherwise don’t have the opportunity that us as Americans typically have with medical services. The children were a delight to work with and their smiles at the end of the day was worth it.

Hobbies: Hiking and exploring new eats

Favorite sport: Football (go SD/LA Chargers!) and tennis

Favorite food: Tough choice – pizza or sushi

Favorite sport: Softball & Basketball

Favorite food: mashed potatoes

Favorite volunteer experience: Fit Families, a lovely health and wellness program for families in East Los Angeles! We get to work one on one with participants every Saturday morning during the school year, and work towards their nutrition and exercise goals. I’ve met some incredibly motivated people and getting to see their smiling faces every week is rad!

Hobbies: Exploring Southern California hills and DTLA, hittin the south bay beaches, hanging with great pals and my dog!

Favorite sport: love to swim, love to watch Trojan football and Lakers basketball.

Favorite food: impossible to choose

Founder of the CA Outreach Challenge

Gail Bachman, PT, DPT – San Diego State University, Class of 2015

“I started this volunteer competition as a way to recognize the amazing work SPT/SPTAs were doing throughout California. I also wanted to find a fun way to encourage students who were new to volunteering to get involved in their community. I was amazed with the response in our first year and was truly touched with all the student’s stories from their time volunteering. I am very proud to be in profession with such caring and amazing individuals, high                               fives all around!”
